Jessi is launching an independent label “UNNI”.
On 20th September, Jessi made an announcement via Instagram that she is introducing a brand-new label, named “UNNI”. The name is a Korean word for an older sister who is always there to help and uplift you. Jessi sets the feeling she strives to achieve with the label:
“But most importantly, she [UNNI] taught you that nobody will respect you if you don’t respect yourself”.
In the statement, the artist expressed gratitude towards her fans and explained that she chose the company name because she aims to build support and encourage self-expression with her new label.
On her personal Instagram account, Jessi shared her excitement:
“Your UNNI is here @callmyunni. Can’t wait to share my new chapter with you guys!! #UNNICO #UNNICOMPANY”
This announcement comes after Jessie’s departure from Jay Parks label More Vision earlier this year. The artist was signed to the company for less than a year and her departure was followed by rumours. Some netizens believed Jessi left More Vision because of the issues that occurred during the promotion period of the single “Gum”. Both Jessi and Jay Park were quick to dismiss the accusations and confirmed that their work relationship was amicable.
